This is a cute project I worked on with Boris Kizelshteyn and Victor Hung a couple of months ago for the OnStar Student Developer Challenge. We were among the 6 finalists! We presented the project at the Where 2.0 2011 conference in Santa Clara. I was lucky enough to meet Robert Scoble at a dinner there!
The project enables drivers on the road to communicate each other safely, by joining voice chat rooms and being able to tell which drivers are speaking directionally. They can then move their listening position further up or back down the road with the use of voice commands or other vehicle safe inputs. They can even upvote the helpful drivers they encounter.
